Fundraising for Brain Tumour Support NZ
Nationwide
My name is Ruby and I am 24 years old.
In 2017, my mum (Mandy) was diagnosed with a oligodendroglioma brain tumour. Following a successful surgery and after many months of rest and recuperation, she then went on to create New Zealand's first Brain Tumour Support Charity - Brain Tumour Support NZ.
After many clear yearly MRI's, all seemed to be going well as mum returned to work and the charity grew - changing and supporting the lives of those who also live with a brain tumour.
Unfortunately this year, MRI results showed that the tumour returned. Mum underwent another surgery. Although successful, this time my mum will be going through Radiation therapy and Chemotherapy.
It is a horribly scary and uncertain time, but I would like to show my support to my mum for shaving my hair off as she will also lose her own. She will always be beautiful with or without it, and I'd like to do it for her.
He waka eke noa (we are all in this together). Just like my mum and I are and will always be.
