Shaving My Wavy Locks to raise funds for NZ Breast Cancer Foundation

$762 donated
Given by 13 generous donors in 4 weeks

On Saturday 9th December I am shaving my hair off to raise funds for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

Wellington

Over the years I have had relatives, friends and acquaintances diagnosed with various types of cancer, the most common one being breast cancer. Sadly some have passed away, thankfully most have survived.

For many years I have thought about donating my hair and so a couple of years ago I decided to grow my hair to donate for wigs and also to try and raise some funds. Guess what? I found out recently that grey hair can't be donated and I have more than a bit! So since my "wisdom threads", as I call them, prevent me from donating my hair I decided to go for a complete head shave and at least raise some funds. So in 23 days time it will happen!

I would love to raise $1000. If you are able to donate even as little as a dollar that will be fantastic. The more people that know the more chance of funds being raised so please spread the word. Thanks so much for any donations received.

It's done!  10 December 2017

Yesterday a lovely friend, Ele, who is a professional hairdresser, came over and shaved my head for me! Thanks so much, Ele!

The shave went really well! I'm pretty used to it by now and it's definitely cooler in this heat!

Huge thanks to my hubby, Rich, and all my children for your support. esp Shanz for doing my make-up.

Biggest thanks to my youngest daughter, Lucy, who shot, and spent lots of time editing, the cool wee video you can see here.

The page is open for another week for donations!
