Sheniel shaves his mango!

Each year Ryman Healthcare chooses a charity to raise funds for. Each village and Ryman office sets a fund raising target, and the money they raise is matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. Last year the team donated $300,000 to the New Zealand Red Cross. Over the years we’ve raised more than $2.5 million for charity.

This year we are raising funds for NZ Heart Foundation. We do this by organising various fundraisers. This is one of them.

The NZ Heart Foundation is on a mission to stop New Zealanders dying prematurely of heart diseases, and to help those with existing conditions to live a normal happy life.

The stakes are high ladies and gentlemen, 172,000 people live with heart diseases and 33% of annual deaths are heart related. Your little contribution would make a big difference. Give generously.

Three years on Sheniel has decided to let go of his Rasta life style. Shaving off his lushes locks for a good cause the NZ Heart Foundation.

If that alone isn’t motivation to give generously, Sheniel has carefully planned his laziness over three years, only two showers have got his dreads to where they are now today.

Even though being told by his fellow Ryman workmates losing his dreadlocks he’ll drop down the cool scale. What’s worse, his mother has reminded him that when he was a baby his head was shaped like a little mango, but he is still adamant he wants to go through with it to help raise money for a worthy cause.

If we reach $5,000, Sheniel will shave his napper. Bonus - if we can hit the $10,000 fellow work colleagues Craig Buist (who had heart surgery at the age of 4), Graeme Wilson and Martin Westley have promised, yes promised, to dye their hair peroxide blond. It will be so bright you’ll need sunglasses just to be around them, and you may just get a tan.
