Fundraising for Halberg Foundation
Auckland
In November 2023 I had a traumatic dislocation with multiple fractures of my right shoulder playing at NZ Mixed Ultimate Championships, and it’s been a long road of instability and rehab ever since. This May, I’m getting surgery to (hopefully!) fix it for good.
Recovery isn’t easy for me (is it for anyone?) — and in the past I’ve struggled to stay consistent with physio and rehab 😅 So I’ve committed to 100 days of rehab, logging my progress to stay accountable and keep moving forward.
To make it count for more than just me, I’ll be raising funds for the Halberg Foundation, an awesome NZ charity helping young Kiwis with physical disabilities get into sport and recreation.
This is me, trying to turn my recovery into something positive — and I’d love your support. Every little bit helps 🙏
Day 100/100 21 August 2025
And like that 100 days is over! Thank you so much to everyone that donated and/ or followed along, we've raised $800 (!!!!) that will go straight to the Halberg Foundation, to help empower young kiwis with disabilities through sport.
Although I've still got a ways to go with my recovery, I've made so much progress since May, and over the last week I've been able to be back playing Ultimate again (albeit playing mostly left-handed).
This process has been such a roller coaster - it's so easy to take your physical health for granted when you're relatively uninjured and able, but when it's not all there it feels like a part of me is missing. I'm glad to be on the road back to 100%, but I'm approaching it with a new perspective of gratitude.. I'll be savouring every achievement along the way, remembering how far I've come!
So here's to the next 100 days 💪
Peace ✌️
Cheers Phil!
