Bringing about moments of joy to young people with physical disabilities through sport and recreation.
Auckland
The Halberg Foundation is a charitable organisation founded by Olympic legend Sir Murray Halberg. We work to ensure all young people with physical disabilities have equal opportunities and access to be active, included, and achieve their potential through sport and recreation.
We do this by providing grants for adaptive equipment, delivering inclusive events like the Halberg Games, and working alongside schools, sport providers and communities to break down barriers to participation.
Every donation helps us create more moments of joy, confidence, and connection — and makes play possible for young Kiwis living with physical disabilities.
The Halberg Foundation is a charitable organisation founded in 1963 by Olympic legend, Sir Murray Halberg (ONZ) on the belief that all people, regardless of their ability, should have equal opportunity to enhance their lives through sport and recreation.
The Foundation includes a team of Advisers around the country who work with physically disabled people to connect them with sport and recreation opportunities. They also deliver an Inclusion Training course and support schools, clubs and organisations to deliver inclusive events and programmes.
The Foundation also hosts the Halberg Games a national, three day sports competition for physically disabled and vision impaired young people aged eight - 21 years. The Games give the attendees the opportunity to compete against other young people with similar impairments and pursue further sports goals.
