Sinda swims for Sweet Louise

  • Tomorrow is the day......

      17 April 2015

I was sent this poem today.

    Passion for Life

    The path in your life,

    may never be straight.

    Contain bumps and curves,

    where many are great.

    Your personal experiences,

    have shaped who you are.

    Embrace your mistakes,

    and each unique scar.

    There's always new things,

    in life we may learn.

    With every page,

    and chapter we turn.

    There's just one simple,

    but very important rule.

    Your passion for life,

should be used as your fuel.

    Author unknown

Thank you to you all...and of course it is not too late to spread the word for others to donate too.

The donation pages close after the swim.

Thank you very much to all of you who have supported me, and are continuing to forward my fundraising details to your friends.

I was somewhat apprehensive about doing an interview with a sports journalist from the NZ Herald, but I was very pleased with the article and I have had positive feedback from many people.

Ocean Swimming Clinic was very tough on Saturday. I hope it was because I had had a very busy week at work. I didn't like sitting on the beach because I was too tired and felt my body just wouldn't go any further, whilst the rest of the squad continued. We practiced starts and finishes, as well as swimming round the buoys ...quite a technique involved to ensure one doesn't lose time.

So had an easy day on Sunday, but I will continue to do some training this week, and of course remember the words of Nelson Mandela: "It always seems impossible, until it’s done. "

Only a few days to go!

  • Not long to go now!

      1 April 2015

Swimming training is progressing...and the water seems a little cooler. Or it is the sun isn't quite as hot! I think I am beginning to get the hang of the short fins, and my kicking seems stronger. Yeah!

I have been delighted and amazed by the number of donations, and consequently have now changed my target to 'open goal'...so I hope you continue to spread the word, and then with the money we shall be able to support even more men and women living with secondary breast cancer.

    Thank you once again.

  • Another short update from me.

      13 March 2015

It is a month to go ...I feel I am becoming well acquainted with the lanes at Parnell salt water pools. Though I will admit to not being in the fast lane!

Thank you to you all for the generous donations, emails and phone calls of support for this fundraising venture.

At my current level of donations, there is adequate to fund 5 women their annual allocation of vouchers. Perhaps by race day this will be more...?

This is just wonderful and will make such a difference to those living with secondary breast cancer.

    Thanks so much,

    Sinda

  • Thank you!

      2 March 2015

Wow I cannot believe in a week I have already reached over $1800. Thank you to all my family, friends and supporters, some of whom have remained anonymous.

This week I am on holiday...so first up, it is walking the Tongariro Crossing in the Central North Island. Then during the rest of the week, it will be down to the serious business of training in a swimming pool. Although I have been out in the ocean a great deal, I need to really concentrate on improving my stamina.

    I will keep you updated.

    Sinda
