Dunedin, Otago

Hi Everyone! My name is Stacey and I work with the fantastic team at Road Materials Workgear, who for nearly 70 years have been proudly providing the Dunedin community with all their safety and workwear needs. It was here that I met the amazing team at syd and learnt about the great work they do for the youth in our community.

I believe everyone deserves the chance to find where their passion lies and as I like to say, what really gets their popcorn popping. It’s not always something that can be found in the traditional ways. Sometimes it comes from simply getting amongst it and challenging yourself to do something you didn’t think you’d like but never tried. For me, abseiling 35m down from the roof of the stadium is not on my list of things I would normally enjoy, in fact I would say my enormous fear of heights, and in particular falling from them would tend to put me off, but with the support from a great group of people why not get amongst it! How else do we show our up and coming it’s ok to give things a go?

If you’re like all of us participating this year and would love to see our young ones have continued access to more great opportunities (but without the 35m drop part) please feel free to donate, as little or as much as you can, to make sure programmes like these can continue.

I did it! Got the medal! And I couldn't have done it without you!  27 May 2025

Thanks so much to everyone for getting behind me and helping raise an amazing amount for the team at SYD! Going over the railing was by far the scariest part but highly recommend this experience to everyone....at least once in a lifetime anyway!
