I am looking to raise money for the Westpac Chopper Appeal in Otago and Southland by riding from Westpac Frankton to Westpac Invercargill.

This photo is of my wife, who has used the services of the Otago and Southland Rescue Helicopter Service twice over the past year or so. This will be my 9th ride for this worthy cause and our recent experiences makes me even more determined to fundraise and train for such a worthy cause. This year we are looking to break the goal of $1 million raised. Here in the Central Lakes it is a crucial service and I look forward to being a part of the Chopper bike ride, year after year. Who receives the money I raise ? 24 April 2024

In talking to one of the ladies in our cycling group today regarding my nineth ride for the Westpac Chopper appeal I hadn't realised that it isn't widely known that the money raised stays in the area it is raised in. I had reached out to Jules Tapper who is the Chair of the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust which is where the money that we raise in Southland, Otago and Central Otago goes to and he provided a detailed summary of what the money has been used for in recent times which is to large for this communication. While we don’t have the cool (Westpac) red choppers all our money stays here for our choppers to use.
