Stephen Hebbend: Donate to save Otago and Southland lives

  • A Fantastic Result !!!

      20 May 2024

I have finished my 9th ride from the Westpac Bank in Frankton, Queenstown to Westpac in Invercargill. This particular ride was between 230 - 240kms in one day with many stops to the smaller community schools which are the highlights of the day when 90 - 100 riders ride in to each school receiving a haka and inspiring chants from the excited children ready to see the celebrities who rode with us and show their efforts of what has been raised from their communities. The whole process is inspirational and that is why those that have an initial go come back time and again. We achieved the goal to break the $1,000,000 barrier before we set off on the Friday morning.

I also want to thank the 83 people who donated to my Givealittle Page, I am humbled by the support from $10 donations right up to the $5,000 donation that Colliers Otago gave, they all add up to an amazing amount for an amazing charity. The donations are still being made but if you are one of the 83 who already donated I hope I can call on your support again next year but hopefully the weather will be a little warmer 🤞

Donations for this campaign are still able to be received until the 30th June 2024.

  • Who receives the money I raise ?

In talking to one of the ladies in our cycling group today regarding my nineth ride for the Westpac Chopper appeal I hadn't realised that it isn't widely known that the money raised stays in the area it is raised in. I had reached out to Jules Tapper who is the Chair of the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust which is where the money that we raise in Southland, Otago and Central Otago goes to and he provided a detailed summary of what the money has been used for in recent times which is to large for this communication. While we don’t have the cool (Westpac) red choppers all our money stays here for our choppers to use.

  • Westpac Chopper Appeal donates to the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust

      12 April 2024

For those who are unaware that we are raising money for local services please read on - we are all not losing site of the fact that we are raising money for such an important part of our lives, did you know that amongst our riders this year, 2 of them have used the chopper in the past 12 months! Let alone those who have used it, that ride to give back! I had reached out to Jules Tapper who is the Chair of the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust which is where the money that we raise in Southland, Otago and Central Otago goes to. While we don’t have the cool (Westpac) red choppers all our money stays here for our choppers to use. So, in saying that a big shout out to those that come from out town and give money to our cause! Your awesome!
