Fundraising for New Dawn Foundation
Auckland
Most people know someone who struggles with trauma or mental health, and many of us carry these experiences ourselves. That’s why I’m starting a personal challenge to walk 12,000 steps every day for 30 days to support my wellbeing and raise money for an incredible cause.
I’ll be fundraising for New Dawn Foundation, a New Zealand based charitable organisation that helps people access evidence based trauma therapy when cost, waitlists, or other barriers prevent them from getting help. Their work funds trauma focused treatment so people can move from surviving toward real recovery.
Research in New Zealand shows around 61% of adults experience at least one traumatic event, such as violence, accidents, loss, or abuse. These experiences can have lasting impacts on mental and physical wellbeing.
Mental health and trauma recovery matters deeply to me. I’ve had my own struggles and know how important the right support can be. Healing is possible when people have access to timely support and care.
That’s why I’m committing to take steps every day, literally and figuratively, while raising funds to help others access trauma treatment without barriers
All funds raised go directly to the New Dawn Foundation. You can donate through the Givealittle page, where I’ll also share updates on my progress.

Every donation helps people access the support they deserve. If you can’t donate, sharing this post helps spread awareness. 🩵
Day 19 27 March 2026
For the past 19 days, I’ve been walking 12,000+ steps every single day to raise money for the New Dawn Foundation.
So far, together we’ve raised $500 👏👏👏 all of which is going directly toward helping people access timely, trauma-informed care that they otherwise might not receive.
I won’t pretend this has been easy. Some days have been a real battle, especially while navigating my own mental health challenges. But that’s also exactly why this matters so much to me.
Over these 19 days, I’ve been pushing myself not just physically, but mentally - keeping my steps up even on the hard days, braving a return to the gym after my own mental health once made it feel impossible, working with a personal trainer to rebuild my strength, and continuing my own healing journey.
This journey is about more than steps,it’s about showing up, even when it’s hard, and helping give others a fighting chance at healing too.
There are 11 days left, and every bit of support makes a difference. Thank you to everyone who has supported the cause so far . Further / more detailed updates on my social media pages
