Please support me in helping Make Wishes come true for New Zealand Children.
Auckland
Hi there I turned 50 this year and wanted to set myself a physical challenge of running a marathon for the first time. I've entered the Tauranga Marathon in September.
I'm a passionate supporter of Make-A-Wish New Zealand and wanted to take the opportunity to raise some funds to give me some extra motivation to get out of bed early for those pre-work runs.
I'm looking to raise $1000 which will go towards granting a wish for a New Zealand child going through some tough times.
For those of you not familiar with Make A wish, here's what they do:
They create life changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. They grant around 200 wishes a year, but their vision is to grant the wish of every eligible child. From the moment a child starts planning a wish, it gives them something wonderful to focus on which helps them find the strength to keep on fighting. It is the boost they need to look to the future and feel hopeful again.
Thanks for your support.
I've been a volunteer wish granter for Make a Wish since 2005 and helped grant 46 wishes and I love been involved. When I decided to run a marathon this year I wanted to raise funds to give me that extra motivation to train hard. I'm hoping to use the funds I raise towards my 50th wish in my 50th year.
