Stride for Success

Help reduce suicide in the construction industry and build a brighter future for our friends, brothers, fathers, and sons.

Christchurch, Canterbury

In today's hectic world, sports provide the best way for me to unwind and escape daily stresses. This passion for sports has inspired a personal goal: to help others. How? I plan on participating in the Christchurch Half Marathon in support of Mates in Construction.

There is a silent crisis in the heart of our bustling construction sites, where hammers and drills fill the air. Every week, we lose nearly one of our own to suicide. These aren't just statistics; they are our friends, brothers, fathers, and sons. The construction industry, a pillar of strength and resilience, faces an unseen battle, with 98% of those lost being men.

Mates in Construction aims to reduce the number of lives lost to suicide in the construction industry. In 2019, the suicide rate among men in construction was the highest of any occupational group. With your support, we can bring this aim one step closer to success.

If you need to have a chat about how you or someone else is feeling, please call Mates on 0800 111 315 (24/7)
