Bay Conservation Alliance supports communities to restore and preserve natural ecosystems and indigenous biodiversity.
In the Bay of Plenty, Bay Conservation Alliance (BCA) supports 29 community conservation groups, all with a common purpose: working to protect & restore the Taiao (Environment). BCA’s role is to connect & support these passionate volunteers, by providing them with resources & funding, so they can get on with the real mahi.
Our “backyard” is unique, but many ecosystems & species are declining. The good news is, together we can make a difference to protect it for future generations.
Last year alone 3000 volunteers - AKA Nature Heroes - within these groups spent more than 52,000 hours planting 65,000 trees & caught over 8,300 pests. What an incredible display of passion, knowledge & skills & they come back driven to achieve more, motivated by the positive benefits of volunteering.
Individually, most groups have very limited budgets with no easy funding paths, so they rely on BCA to help them. We need your help to raise $3k so we can power up more Nature Hero activity! Your donation will make a very real difference.
Through generous donations we have enabled the creation of a new rehabilitation aviary for injured birds; monitoring equipment like bat detectors to measure populations; traps for, you’ve guessed it, those pesky predators; planting projects & health & safety equipment to keep our volunteers safe.
Donate today so our amazing Nature Heroes can continue to be kaitiaki (guardians) for our incredible backyard!

Wherever you live, there is bound to be a conservation group nearby who needs your help. They all rely on the generosity of local people sharing their time and donations, most could not function without amazing volunteers and donors.
Update 23 November 2023
