Join me in supporting Pet Refuge NZ. Aotearoa's first shelter for animal victims of domestic violence.

Northland

Pet Refuge NZ is Aotearoa's first non-profit organization dedicated to housing animals affected by domestic violence.

Unfortunately, many victims of domestic violence delay their attempt to escape a dangerous home because their four-legged companion is a victim of that violence too. Abusers often use pets as a source for manipulation to keep the victim in their control. Threatening to abuse, torture, or kill them if said victim "steps out of line".

23% of women from the 2018 Women's Refuge Research had a pet killed by their partner. That might be hard to hear, but it is someone's reality right now.

Pet Refuge NZ provides that safe space for animals while their human finds a safe space for themselves! They are 100% supported by donations! Therefore I'd like to ask for a special birthday present joining me in contributing towards supporting the very important mahi they do.

Sasha and I went through a really dark time together. We saw each other suffer things we didn't deserve. She tried to protect me and I tried to protect her. Only when she was completely safe from the danger, I was able to walk away. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone or animal.
