I am swimming 35km to try and raise $3500 for two non-profit organizations that will help to preserve our oceans and its wonderful sea life

Hi everyone!
I am once again planning on taking part in a pair of epic swims on February 19th and 20th, 2022 hosted by the Fiordland Endurance & Adventure Racing Society. One event is a 12km river swim down the Waiau River. The second event is a 35 kilometer journey from the shores of Te Anau to those of Manapouri by traversing across lake Te Anau, down the Waiau river, and along lake Manapouri. These two attempts wouldn't be possible without the support of Dunedin and the opportunities for swimming and enjoying the coastal ocean.
As such, I want to take this opportunity to give back to Dunedin by raising funds for two non-profits that will help to sustain the amazing ocean and the wildlife it contains. Our Seas Our Future and the Sea Lion Trust are two major organizations that have direct impacts to save and preserve the wonderful ocean for us and our future. Anything you could donate for their cause will go towards helping them complete the amazing work they do!

That's a wrap! 22 February 2022
Success! 35km in the bag in 5 hours and 30 minutes! Sunday's epic swim was a stunner, with beautiful weather making for a much more enjoyable experience than last time. The low river was a bit hairy with tons more rapids and quite a few logs, rocks and obstacles upping the ante and forcing defensive swimming and awareness the whole river. I had a great opportunity to swim downstream after the first lake with two Dunedin masters swimmers, Richard Jongens and Steve Prescott, who ended up shooting out on the last lake 4 minutes ahead. With 8 kilometers to go, I managed to come back into second and finish 2 minutes off of Steve, who had an amazing performance with his 67 year old grit and determination. I can't state how grateful I am to my paddler and support crew, as well as the event organizers and all of the online support.
