Running 6 Half Marathons for Hospice Waikato | Aug-Sep 2026

  • 🏅That’s a wrap 🏅

I set out on this challenge in memory and honour of Paige a friend of 20 years, who passed away from cancer just five months ago.

I wanted to do something that honoured her, while raising funds for the charity that looked after her and her family during her final weeks with us.

Seeing first-hand what Hospice Waikato does and the support they provide has been incredible. I’ll forever be grateful for the care they gave my friend and the work they continue to do for so many families.

For me, though, that’s a wrap on the running for now.

What started with barely any running experience and less than two months of training turned into five completed half marathons, one withdrawal, and a challenge that pushed me well beyond anything I thought I could do.

Now it’s time for a little road to recovery. I’ve got something going on with my MCL and am currently waiting to see a specialist, so it’s definitely time to give the body a bloody well earned break.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, encouraged, sponsored and followed along. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to honour her. 🧡

The running is done. The memories and the impact will last a lot longer.

  • Sixth Half Marathon

    The challenge is officially complete!

I set out to complete 6 half marathons for Hospice Waikato, and despite having to withdraw from one due to unforeseen medical issues, I finished 5 of the 6.

What makes this challenge even more crazy is that I was a completely inexperienced runner. I hadn’t properly run since middle school, around 15 years ago, and had less than two months of training before taking this on.

It was physically and mentally tough, and there were plenty of moments where I questioned whether I could keep going, but I made it to the finish line.

But I wasn’t doing it alone. My dad jumped in with almost no training and completed a half marathon, while Rachel and Glen both took on a 5km. So despite my withdrawal, we still collectively made up the kilometres and completed the challenge as a team.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, encouraged me and supported this journey. 🧡

The challenge is done. Now let’s finish the fundraising for Hospice Waikato.

  • A Huge Thank You to My Sponsors

Throughout this challenge, I’ve been incredibly grateful to have the support of some amazing businesses who chose to get behind what I’m doing and help me raise funds for Hospice Waikato.

A massive thank you to LSKD, Sportsfuel, TBS – The Branding Shed, and CLW Construction for your support and for believing in what I set out to achieve.

Taking on these half marathons has been completely self-driven, but having businesses willing to put their name behind the journey has meant a lot.

I’m proud to have carried your names with me across every start line and finish line.

  • Fifth Half Marathon

On Sunday 6 September, I completed the North Shore Half Marathon, less than 25 hours after completing the Kinloch Off-Road Challenge the day before.

This one took a heavy toll on my body. After already completing 21.1km the previous morning, my knees were in a world of pain and at times reaching the finish line felt almost impossible.

Despite the pain and exhaustion, I kept moving forward and made it across the finish line, completing two half marathons in less than 25 hours.

A huge thank you to everyone who has continued to donate, share my journey, and support me throughout this challenge. Every bit of support continues to mean a lot.

  • Fourth Half Marathon

On Saturday 5 September, I completed the next half marathon in my challenge to raise funds for Hospice Waikato.

This was a tough one, both physically and mentally. The off-road course pushed me well beyond my comfort zone and challenged me right through to the finish, but I got it done.

This was also the first of two half marathons I would take on within a 25-hour period, with very little recovery time before lining up again the following morning.

A huge thank you to everyone who has continued to donate, share my journey, and support me along the way. Every bit of support continues to make a difference.

  • Third Half Marathon

On Saturday 29 August, I was due to complete the third of six half marathons in support of Hospice Waikato.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen medical issues, I had to make the difficult decision to withdraw at the start line. Despite showing up and attempting to push through significant pain, it became clear that continuing wasn’t the right decision and I needed to prioritise my health.

While it was disappointing not to complete this one, the overall challenge continues.

A huge thank you to everyone who has continued to donate, share my journey, and support me along the way. Every donation and message of encouragement is greatly appreciated.

2 completed. 1 withdrawal. Three to go.
