A group of women who have performed in past Tarnished Frocks and Divas shows are thrilled to be part of the MoreFM Mt Everest Challenge
Bay of Plenty
Tarnished Frocks and Divas show was inspired by the memory of a dear friend Barb which saw a group of enthusiastic and talented women, with strong backgrounds in the arts, join together in 2005 and put on a show to celebrate and showcase women’s talents and the passion for life. After that first sell out show many other amazing women have gone on to produce outstanding shows which are proudly staged biannually in Tauranga. Tarnished Frocks and Divas is committed to featuring women over 40. The event is a volunteer based performance that aims to enrich lives by inspiring people to challenge themselves, create new goals and to be a positive influence on family, friends and the wider community.
And now a challenge has been put forwarded by MoreFM as a fundraiser for Homes of Hope, to climb Mauao in Mount Maunganui 38 times which will be equivalent to climbing Mt Everest. A group of enthusiastic Divas from past shows have accepted the challenge and over the next 30 days will be seen going up and down Mauao with the goal to raise $1000 for Homes of Hope.
Homes of Hope Charitable Trust provides an innovative response to children in need of care and protection due to neglect and/or abuse.
Homes of Hope provide these children with safe, loving homes away from the mayhem and chaos. Not only do they provide these loving, safe homes for as long as the children need them, they keep their brothers and sisters together. They weave a community around them to support, nurture, guide and lead them. And ensure they receive top-rate support, training and on-going supervision, care and respite and encouragement. That there is a time and place for each precious child to recover, to heal and begin to grow and thrive and so become a great New Zealander – with a place to stand.

When we heard about the reason for the MoreFM Mt Everest challenge "climb Mauao 38 times to help fund raise for Homes of Hope" there was no hesitation TFDDivas had to do it. For some it maybe part of their weekly exercise regime but for others it will be the first time to climb Mauao and not just once, a daunting challenge! As Mums, Aunties, and Grandparents our children are like precious gems, to be loved, nurtured and supported as they grow into young adults.
By challenging ourselves, we can be a positive influence on our family friends and the wider community along with raising funds for a wonderful charity "Homes of Hope"
