Raising some cash for mental health and maybe losing a Mullet depending on the Crusaders vs Hurricanes Friday 29th May 2026

Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui

Hey ho mullet lovers and haters!

Back in 2014 I went a year with no haircut and raised around $4500 for Starship.

https://www.facebook.com/HairForAYear

During the first Covid lockdown I started my mullet journey and by July 2020 it was a fully fledged red and black Crusader mullet designed to wind up my Hurricane supporting Palmy work mates.

Now the colour has grown out and my wonderful wife has been indicating for a few years that it might be time for a change... So, I have decided to have a crack at raising a bit more money for my chosen charity and use the upcoming Crusader vs Hurricane game to determine the fate of my mane.

Here is the deal:

If the Crusaders happen to lose to the Hurricanes on Friday 29th May 2026 the mullet will go.

Myself and my fellow Crusader supporters don't think this will happen so I have another option.

If this page raises the same or more than my 2014 effort then the mullet will go.

Regardless, all money raised will go to Gumboot Friday to help with all the great work they do.

If I can raise $10k then I'll throw in a bonus, Not only will I shave my head, I'll subject myself to further hair removal with a manzillian!

It's all up to you to decide.

Why Gumboot Friday?

There are so many deserving charities for this money but mental health has played a significant role in recent years for myself and my family. Personal issues mixed with work pressures can be overwhelming at times. Help is always around but the first step in asking can be the hardest.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
