Living with Type 1 Diabetes for over 15 and 1/2 years has been tough.
Taking one step at a time has always been my approach.
Whether you have type 1, type 2 or another type of diabetes, you have an increased risk of foot problems, so your feet need a little extra care to keep them healthy.
I will be stepping up for diabetes and are wanting as many people to get involved as possible. My goal is to do 250,000 steps this month. (8300 per day)
Each year in New Zealand, there are 600 amputations related to diabetes that could be prevented with regular foot care, foot checks and screening.
This Diabetes Action Month, we will be stepping up for foot health and asking Kiwis to do the same. We will be helping people with diabetes learn all about looking after their feet while raising awareness for diabetes and advocating for better care for all people with diabetes.
