Otago

Daniel has been with Markhams since 2003. A specialist in taxation and advisory services Daniel became a director of Markhams in 2019. Daniel acknowledges that he has grown in to his role of director thanks to the great mentoring from the other Markhams directors, Barry O’Donnell, Gavin Craw, Dave Russell and Denise Gow.

Growing up in a family business environment, Daniel understands that to be successful you need flexibility and honesty in dealing with clients. Daniel finds satisfaction in ensuring his clients make the right decisions working closely with clients to ensure pricing structures and margins are right with appropriate recognition of staff.

A proud family man, Daniel hopes his children will learn from his example. He believes that hard work and perseverance have got him to where he is today; but tongue-in-cheek, he describes his job to his two young children, Riley and Alex as “counting beans”.

Daniel believes that achieving work and life balance is important and commends Markhams Clarke Craw’s flexibility when it comes to family enabling him to attend his children’s school events and sporting activities, which he has always appreciated.

Daniel grew up in the South Island and has resided in all its main centres over the years, including Invercargill and Queenstown. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce at Canterbury University, followed by a small stint at an accounting firm in Nelson, before making the move to Markhams Clarke Craw.

He says that moving to Dunedin with wife Lauren, was “the best decision my family ever made”.

Daniel is also sure that taking up the challenge of Toss the Boss is a great cause and looks to raise as much as he can for the Malcam Charitable Trust. Support Daniel by making a donation!

On the morning of the 17th May I'll be abseiling from the roof of Forsyth Barr Stadium 35 metres to the pitch below, fundraising for the Malcam Charitable Trust. All funds raised will go towards providing the youth of Otago experiences that enable them to discover who they are, and where they fit in.
