My teenage years were really difficult for lots of reasons - unstable home life, not being a "normal kid" (now known as neurodivergent) made school a misery and there were times when I almost didn't make it out alive. But I did and this was due to other people standing up around me lending me their aroha, strength and wisdom when I had none of my own. To be involved in helping another young person get through their challenges is a privilege.
