Help me support the Malcam Charitable Trust in Toss the Boss 2017
Otago
Someone said it's a good idea to do something that scares you every day - jumping off a roof and asking people for money are both quite scary things for me.
In my day job, I'm leading a process to establish a Project Management Office at the University of Otago.
At home, I live with my family in fabulous Dunedin. I love this town and am keen to do all I can for Dunedin charities.
I'll be abseiling from the roof of Forsyth Barr Stadium 35 metres to the pitch below, fundraising for the Malcam Charitable Trust. All funds raised will go towards providing the youth of Otago experiences that enable them to discover who they are, and where they fit in.
Thank You - and thank heavens it is done. 2 June 2017
The abseil went well this morning.
I have never been so frightened in my life; but there is a weird calm to be had from acknowledging the fear, and choosing to act anyway. I know that is a cliche, but this morning it was true.
I must admit, that when I first got to the gantry (I now know what a gantry is, and I really don't recommend them) - I was ready to offer to double the money if I could just get back inside. But, y'all have raised too much money for that, and anyway, it was better to push ahead.
I am truly grateful to all the kind people who made donations. You have been awesome, and made all of this worthwhile.
I'm especially grateful to all the people who showed up this morning to support me through the last few steps. That support was just what I needed.
So now it's done.
A few donations are still coming in today. It would be incredible if we could break the 3K mark, so I'll leave the page open for another day. Please share with anyone who might want to help Malcam - They are a great charity and will put your money to good use.
Support our brave bosses as they put it on the line for the Malcam Charitable Trust
Thanks Sue. This is very kind of you. Thank Heavens it is done!
Dear Lucy and Mark, thank you for these words of encouragement and for your kind donation. If I have impressed you and been a little bit crazy then my work is done. It has been suggested that competitive knitting may be a better hobby for me!
Thank you Cheryl - you were awesome today too! So looking forward to looking back on this!
Thank you so much Richard! This is awesome!
