3000km of pedaling adventures in the Tour Aoteraoa for Wellington MS Society.
Wellington
I am gearing up to cycle unsupported the length of New Zealand beginning February 23th from Cape Reinga. This is an event, known as Tour Aotearoa, following 3000 km of cycle trails, tracks, paths and lanes, with just 30 days to reach Bluff.
All participants in the event have donated to a charity of our choice. Id love to raise some extra money while I ride for my chosen charity - the Wellington MS Society.
Wellington MS Society is one of the unsung heroes of our welfare system - doing great work every day to improve the lives of some of the nicest people you could wish to meet. Hoping this fundraising can help them along the way - please show your support in making this ride benefit this great charity. Thanks
Wellington MS Society is a great support service for the multiple sclerosis community in the greater Wellington area.
Day 25 - Tailwind into Bluff 20 March 2020
The weather gods have been smiling ever since we left 90 mile beach and it was a blissful Norwester on the final push from Winton to the Bluff. A quick dip in Foveaux Strait and a feed of oysters and its all over.
Huge thanks for all the support and encouragement - went to some amazing places, saw some of NZ's most spectacular scenery and met some real neat characters. Special thanks to Nic, Jim, Kev&Pam, Phil&Ann, John&Rach, Rog&Marg and Dave for hosting me along the route.
The camaraderie with all the other TA riders was huge - all riding for their own reasons and causes - united in getting to see that signpost in Bluff.
And from my side, being able to raise over $4k for the Wellington MS Society is the greatest reward of all. Hopefully this little bit of extra funding and raised awareness can make life that little bit easier for some of the 500+ MS patients in the greater Wellington Region.
Thanks again for the generous donations and wonderful support.
