I am riding the 2021 Tour Aotearoa Brevet to raise money for LandSAR Search Dogs.
Nationwide
Hey everyone, my name is Damian Hancock and I am going to ride the 2021 Tour Aotearoa Brevet which is a 3020km mountain bike ride from Cape Reinga to Bluff. I am doing this to raise money for Land SAR Search Dogs. I have been involved with Land SAR Search Dogs for about 12 years and have been a trainer for the last couple of years.
I was motivated to ride the Tour Aotearoa in February last year when I met the riders doing the 2020 edition whilst I was riding the Timber Trail.
I made my decision in July and have been putting in the hard yards training ever since, I have ridden over 3500km on my mountain bike in training!!
Land SAR Search Dogs are an amazing organisation comprised completely of volunteers who spend countless hours training dogs towards gaining and maintaining operational status. We have Avalanche, Wilderness Tracking and Wilderness Area Search dog teams. It takes an incredible commitment from handlers to train a dog to operational status. I am aiming to raise $5000 for LandSAR Search Dogs to help with equipment, targeted training camps and to help get more operational dog teams on the ground.
Please help me support this great organisation.
I am a trainer for Land SAR Search Dogs and would like to raise some money to assisst with training new SAR Dogs.
