On Friday afternoon I departed Rolleston on a wee ride from home up to Lake Coleridge and up to Lake Lyndon. I got into Lake Lyndon and 1045pm and luckily I had checked thr forecast and seen Metservice was forecasting very strong NW winds do made the decision to slerp in the shelter. This was a very wise move as boy did it get windy!!

Luckily the NW'r had eased a bit in the morning and I made my way up to Prters Pass then had an awesome downhill run all the way to Sheffield with a tailwind to boot. I averaged 29.6km an hour and got to Sheffield in an hour.

I then made my way up to View Hill and rode the Wharfedale Track all the way through to Lees Valley, up and over a couple of hills and out to Oxford where I stocked up on water and headed for the Waimakariri River. I found a great little spot in the Pines to camp in.

The next morning I made my way down river and met up with Jamie at the Main road bridge and we cruised Kaiapoi for a well earned breakfast and coffee beside the river at a cafe. Suitably nourished we headed out to Pines Beach and the mouth of the Waimakariri River shere we promptly found soft sand... A quick photo and stop to empty half the beach from our shoes and we rode back to the car at the bridge and headed home. I managed to ride 295km in about 17hrs moving time. Was great training and every time I do a long ride I am learning new things about my setup and how to be more efficient., which means less faffing around and more riding!!

Thanks heap for everyone's support, getting close now!! Only 4 weeks to go...
