Katy & Rob's fundraiser for Volunteer Service Abroad - Te Tūao Tāwāhi (VSA)
Southland
Rob and I have been volunteering again with VSA for athe last year - providing support to the Vanuatu Department of Corrections/Dipatmen Blong Koreksonal Sevis with enterprise opportunities and rehabilitation programmes. I have been running the art rehabilitation programme with an emphasis on ‘pablik penting’ (murals). Rob has worked alongside the joinery and catering instructors to develop cost savings and income opportunities for the department. Both assignments aim to support training opportunities for detainees as they reintegrate into society.
We’ve posted some new photos showing the latest murals and improvements to the bakery and kitchen (biogas units).
Volunteer Service Abroad is New Zealand’s largest and most experienced volunteer agency, sending volunteers to share skills and work with partner organisations in the Pacific region and beyond. This fundraiser is to support Volunteer Service Abroad to cover part of their financial shortfall so they can send people like us throughout the Pacific to help others.
Two Volunteers back in Vanuatu 30 September 2023
We’re still here volunteering with the Dipatmen blong Koreksonal Sevis, thanks to Volunteer Service Abroad.
We’ll be heading home to NZ next month, then back again to Vanuatu next year. Have posted a few new pics for your interest.
Thank you for your donation Dominique. Many ni-Vanuatu help out NZ and Australia’s horticulture industry with RSE work, so it feels good to offer a helping hand to Vanuatu.
Thanks Fei and Roxani, you're champions! x K & R
Tankyu tumas Linda. I'm not sure how much has changed years later, but there are some renewable energy advancements and a focus on food security issues. Thankfully there are still a few 'good egg' expatriates about, employing and training locals.
Tankyu tumas Sarah. Lukim yu long jan!?
Thanks Chris. Checking out the VSA vacancies list?
