Support David Stuart's fundraising ride for the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust
Te Anau, Southland
In January 2023, hiking the Milford Track, I slipped over and majorly dislocated and broke my ankle.
I was in a pretty dicey spot on the track in rough weather and was treated on site and flown out by the amazing paramedics and pilots of the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust.
I cannot overstate how great these folks were to do this for me. Their work was life-changing. And this is 'just another day at the office' for them.
In March 2024 I'm having another crack at reaching Milford Sound - this time by Bicycle starting at Malborough Sounds and heading south on the Sounds to Sound trail. 1500kms, two and a half weeks of adventure.
And I'm going to raise some funds for the Trust to support their future heroics for clumsy clods like me.
Done and dusty! 24 March 2024
Well I'm finished. I made it under my own steam to Milford Sound. What an adventure. 16 days of weather, wind and climbs. I've been placed I will probably never visit again. Such beauty in this small country. Congratulations to all my fellow riders - heroes and friends. Thank you again for your donations. It means a lot to me to be able to give something back to the team that rescued me just over a year ago. Thank you , thank you, David
Thank you so much Brandy and Andrew. I'll bring it home for Raumati South!
Thanks Gillian - that's definitely going to be my mantra on those tough climbs! So much beauty in the South Island, and no snakes!
Thank you Matt - I can't wait and hopefully a good water cooler story or two when I get back
Thank you so much Georgie for this and all the support to do this. Yes finishing is the plan!
