Always up for a challenge, especially when it benefits others! Vikki is ready to tackle 20KGs and raise $20K for Graeme Dingle Foundation.
Auckland
I am always up for a challenge - particularly where it benefits someone other than me!
At our 2018 Christmas party, Peter Kerridge (PK), my business partner of many years, challenged me on my goals for 2019. We chatted about some of them and he intimated that he didn’t think I had a BIG GOAL – he said what would you really like to achieve? Fuelled by some alcohol, I said I would love to be 20kg lighter! And that was the genesis of the idea, to lose 20kg in weight in just six months (by 1 July 2019), and raise $20,000 at the same time for a good cause.
As a business we have been supporters of the Graeme Dingle Foundation for many years. PK serves on the Board, we financially support them, and we run their Career Navigator programme in our business with the support of our team. We have also had many Project K mentors over the years.
This link to the Graeme Dingle Foundation Auckland/Tāmaki Makarau (https://dinglefoundation.org.nz/auckland/) page will give you an overview of how they help, support and deliver their programmes for the young people in our Community. A lot of these Kiwi Kids have achieved against all odds and will be future role models for many others. In raising $20,000 we will be able to help a lot more of our younger people through the Graeme Dingle Foundation programmes.
We all know how difficult it is to lose weight, but do we REALLY know how difficult it is to battle many of life’s challenges with everything against you?
I implore you to help me lose 20kg whilst raising $20,000 to assist in the support and development of our disadvantaged youth.
I am too embarrassed to let you know my current weight (maybe at the end I will share it), but it is being monitored. I will post before and after pictures and update you along the way – please follow me on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/vikki.maclean.1), LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/vikkimaclean/) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/MacleanVikki).

Thank you for your support. Vikki

Last Bit of Begging 29 October 2019
The generosity so far has been hugely appreciated and this is my last appeal for support to get me across the finish line on November 15th.
Alarmingly the pressure is on as I still have five more kilos to lose to reach my target of 20kgs weight loss. And my great desire is to get as close as possible to $20k in funds for the Graeme Dingle Foundation.
I openly admit this has been a tough challenge for me. To be candid tougher than I imagined. I thought if I stuck to a diet it would all drop off. At my age I read that one wrong. Anyone who knows me well can attest to my appetite for fine dining and social events that include good food and wine – generously and regularly! Cheese boards, etc. As PK once said I wouldn’t do this job if I couldn’t eat!!
I have had to endure the highs and lows of rigid dietary changes, there is nothing linear about shedding 20kgs. I have had to change a lifetime of bad habits – but where I have scored is that there are a lot of people who have supported me on this journey.
As many of you will know we support the Graeme Dingle Foundation as a business – it is through this I have learnt so much about the challenges these youngsters face. This experience has focused my thoughts on the confronting life challenges these youngsters go through, many of whom have parents in the Corrections system. Sadly, without the work of the Graeme Dingle Foundation their futures are often destined to go off the rails.
So finally this is my ultimate plea to finish this huge goal on a high, especially for these youngsters in need whose lives we can benefit positively, both for them personally and the local NZ communities that they in turn can give back to.
