Vikki's 20KGs for $20,000!

  • Last Bit of Begging

    The generosity so far has been hugely appreciated and this is my last appeal for support to get me across the finish line on November 15th.

    Alarmingly the pressure is on as I still have five more kilos to lose to reach my target of 20kgs weight loss. And my great desire is to get as close as possible to $20k in funds for the Graeme Dingle Foundation.

    I openly admit this has been a tough challenge for me. To be candid tougher than I imagined. I thought if I stuck to a diet it would all drop off. At my age I read that one wrong. Anyone who knows me well can attest to my appetite for fine dining and social events that include good food and wine – generously and regularly! Cheese boards, etc. As PK once said I wouldn’t do this job if I couldn’t eat!!

    I have had to endure the highs and lows of rigid dietary changes, there is nothing linear about shedding 20kgs. I have had to change a lifetime of bad habits – but where I have scored is that there are a lot of people who have supported me on this journey.

    As many of you will know we support the Graeme Dingle Foundation as a business – it is through this I have learnt so much about the challenges these youngsters face. This experience has focused my thoughts on the confronting life challenges these youngsters go through, many of whom have parents in the Corrections system. Sadly, without the work of the Graeme Dingle Foundation their futures are often destined to go off the rails.

    So finally this is my ultimate plea to finish this huge goal on a high, especially for these youngsters in need whose lives we can benefit positively, both for them personally and the local NZ communities that they in turn can give back to.

    Dear All,

    Thank you for the wonderful support I have had so far on this incredibly tough challenge. The last three months have been incredibly hard as I have been away twice, put on weight and then found it difficult to get back in the groove. I have lost a total of 14kg and want to get another 6kg off. After this weekend of celebrating my 60th it may be more like 10kg off. Anyone who has struggled with their weight knows it is not a linear process - a little like KiwiBuild - aspirational at best. I do feel so much better having lost this weight and retail has benefitted greatly also. The before photo was taken on 17th November 2018 after the Queentwon Half - I am giving myself to the same weekend this year to achieve my goal both weightwise and financially - please help me to get there!!

      Vikki, Congrats! You look fantastic and you are a true inspiration! I am sitting on my lazy 5-7 kg which I still haven't lost so will try to do it with you and be inspired by your challenge. 14kg is something to celebrate! Hang in there gorgeous! Jo xx

  • Extending Challenge

    I am hopeful you will continue to back me on this challenge. Maybe I was too aspirational to achieve 20kg by 1st July - a little like the labour party!! However I am committed to reaching this goal and ask you to give me a little longer to my 60th birthday to be precise 6th September. I have lost 12kg to date - I had a little more off but then had three weeks off - got to right the wrongs and get back on course - that is life. Thank you for your continued support. I feel so much better and know I can get the rest off!!

    Dear All

    I am very humbled by the immense amount of support and good wishes I have received for this quest to lose weight on behalf of the Graeme Dingle Foundation. Can I tell you it is hard going!! When I am good – I am very good and when I am bad I am awful!!! My sweet tooth is still lurking around and occasionally I have given in. Two months in with Christmas and New Year factored in, I am down 6.6 kgs and we have raised just over $3000.00. A long way still to go. I am going to the gym twice a week at 5.30 am, pilates twice a week, and I try for either spin or a run as well. Just over 4 months to go. Please dig deep to help me raise these essential funds for the Graeme Dingle Foundation to give our youth a helping hand. THANK YOU!
