VUWFLS supporting 'Run for Help' in Round the Bays 2020
Wellington
The Victoria University of Wellington Feminist Law Society (VUWFLS) is a student club based at the Victoria University Law School. It is a group for law students, of all genders, who are interested in feminism, gender equality, and structural oppression at Law School. We seek to be inclusive, intersectional, and aware of multiple layers of oppression.
Our vision is to create an alternative social space for like-minded people, including for those who do not necessarily feel included in Law School culture. We host social events, speaker sessions and in 2018 we were leaders in the March on Midland protest and campaign.
After a very successful inaugural run in 2019, this year members of the VUWFLS Executive and other students and staff at the Law School again will be participating in the Round the Bays to raise funds for Sexual Abuse HELP Wellington and to build awareness about sexual violence. Please help us raise money for this amazing organisation which is desperately needing funds to continue offering free support and counselling to survivors of sexual abuse and their family/friends. There is an increasing demand for their services, due to the high rate of sexual abuse in Wellington. They need our help.
Registration for the event has opened so head on over to https://wellingtonroundthebays.co.nz/
Sign up to the HELP team by selecting the distance you’d like to participate in (either 21km, 10km or 6.5km), by clicking ‘join a team’, then searching for HELP in the search bar and selecting the Run for HELP team. In all events, you can walk or run but just your presence at the event would mean the world to us.
VUWFLS supports the kaupapa of Wellington Help and their goal of a 'world free from sexual violence'.
