Raising money for Auckland City Mission for those in need of one of life’s basic needs; food.
Auckland
Te Waikato Awa. Haerenga for Hauora.
New Zealand’s food banks are at an all time high with more Kiwi’s in need of kai this year than any other.
Jemma and Ngahuia will travel the length of New Zealand’s longest water source Te Waikato Awa in support of those in need of one of life’s basic need, raising money for Auckland City Mission.
Before the convenience of modern day food availability, humans walked many a mile for their kai. This is our way of showing our support for those helping and for those in need.
Starting from Port Waikato where the river meets the ocean and heading inland on a journey through communities who live around this valuable water source. Finishing our journey at the soul of the Waikato River, Lake Taupo, looking up to the beginning source Tongariro.
We will be travelling for three days inland along the Waikato Awa. Travelling approximately 260kms, by foot, boat and bicycle.
Every dollar raised will go to the Auckland City Mission to help supply fresh produce and staple goods for those in need.
