Carrying 20kg (20L) of Water for 6kms So Woman and Girls Don't Have To
Auckland
Imagine that you have to walk to collect your 20L (20kg) of water for you and your family every day, and that you have to carry that load for an average of 6kms. Sadly this is the reality for many people even now. This burden falls mainly to women and children.
We (myself and Nadine) will be taking part on the Walk for Water Auckland, carrying a 20L (20kg) container of water for 6km around Auckland CBD.
This will be a huge challenge for both of us, I myself am still recovering from a serious foot injury and we have a mere 3 weeks in total to train for this. We have been walking every day and increasing the weight.
The money raised from this walk will go to Engineers Without Borders NZ to work with local engineers to develop their skills so that they can ensure those women and girls have access to safe and secure water supplies.
We would love for you to support this worthy cause by donating whatever you can. No amount is too small or too big.
Thank you for your care and support!
I am participating in the Walk for Water to support EWBNZ as their engineers and humanitarians work hard to build the capacity of local engineers so that they can design, operate and maintain locally sourced supplies in a culturally appropriate context
