Walking for a Safe Refuge for Animals

    And it’s a wrap. The walk went well all 42.9 km's & 72440 steps, the weather & temperature over night & into the early hours of the morning was pleasant . The first 10 km ( apart from the last 3-5 km ) was the hardest as just getting into your groove with your usual pain & then you just box on. Had my favourite *Magic radio station* playing to keep me company. When no music, I listened to our * Morepork * 🦉hooting away, which I love. I enjoyed my walk & the challenge. My page will be open for a few more days just in case anyone else would love to donate to my cause. I want to thank all of you for supporting Pet Refuge. How awesome is it that we now have a safe haven for the pets of victims of family violence. Please continue to support them if and when you can. They are essential to our families and their pets.

    I have tested my phone app for the Km's reading, against the car odometer with having it around my waist & it is spot on accurate. I will send two pictures now to show you what it will look like. The first will read 0.0 km, then the next will show a test one of 32.3 km.

  • New date of walk

    Hi everyone. I am doing the walk on Wednesday 16th February, starting in the evening which will take me into Thursday morning of the 17th. The headlight is charged and ready to go ! If you know of anyone else that would be willing & able to donate & sponsor me I would be grateful. I will keep the page open for a few days afterwards.

    Feeling very disappointed , due to heavy RAIN for the past 3 days & it forecasted to continue ,I am having to POSTPONE the walk. The peak trails will be treacherous . I will let you know asap with a new date. Sorry--- I WILL do this !

      Hi Clint, you asked how I found out about your marathon walk - I saw the printout you'd posted at the Te Mata Peak carpark so scanned the QR code and made the donation. It caught my eye as I was walking past as I think the Pet Refuge is such an amazing concept so I've been watching their progress and supporting them periodically.

    Did you know that since Pet Refuge opened in August 2021 they have given 2898 nights of safety to pets. Isn't that awesome.
