Aurora Tamariki children need a fire place and fire alarm to stay warm in their new center in Dunedin during cold days.
Otago
Aurora Tamariki Early Years Care and Kindergarten opened in October 2016 in Pine Hill, Dunedin, Otago, NZ. It is run by 2 absolutely dedicated teachers, who are doing an terrific job looking after the children.
Aurora Tamariki had already purchased a fire place but the council rejected the consent because as an early childcare center with dedicated sleeping spaces there is the need of advanced fire alarm systems. This is excellent to stay safe and alert but unfortunately the funds aren't there with a new business to afford the additional costs of the alarm system. Fortunately the fire place could be given back last year.
Aurora Tamariki has found help in designing the plans for the fire alarm system and is getting final quotes in at this stage. First quotes estimated the costs around $5000-$6000 in total.
So every dollar counts towards a warm and healthy environment for our young children.
I'm involved because my 4 year old son goes to Kindergarten at Aurora Tamariki and myself and other parents want the children to be warm over winter and those many days in between where the extra warmth of a fire is needed in Dunedin to stay healthy. I can't do it myself but together we can do it. Thank you everyone.
