Wharf2Wharf Waiheke 2018 run walk fundraising by family and friends for Christine Williams

My daughter and a group of her amazing friends are participating in this run walk event to help raise funds for my mesh removal surgery.

Auckland

One of my daughters and an amazing group of her friends are doing the Auckland Wharf2Wharf Waiheke 12km fun run and walking event on Saturday 17th March 2018. I'm very humbled by this as my daughter in no way likes to walk or run long distances but her friends and her are doing this for me. And although I'm aware it's St Patrick's day as well that day I admire them doing this before they probably collapse at a vineyard to celebrate or drink away their pains. Big hugs to them all. They are doing this to help raise funds for my surgery that I so desperately need to remove the mesh that surgeons in NZ do not have the expertise at this time to remove.

My condition continues to worsen and I'm now using a walking stick. My complete story is on this site under Christine Williams Mesh and details how I underwent a surgical procedure using mesh that I was unware was being used in my operation. This was over 53 months ago and I have not been able to return to work since this surgery. I can't sit without agony and walking, standing and bending hurt immensely. I lay 20 hours a day due to the pain and the nerve damage this mesh has caused. Along with a list of other horrific side effects this mesh has caused when it eroded through very delicate tissue. I am incontinent and the nerve damage can not be reversed but by getting the mesh out this will stop further problems. I have ongoing UTI's and recently was diagnosed with bi-lateral inguinal groin hernias where the mesh is buckled and bent and pulling in my groin area and internally. I would just like to be able to live a life where I can enjoy my husband, children and beautiful grandchildren without being in constant pain. Not being able to do everyday things that we all take for granted until we suffer an injury at the hands of others is something I would never wish on anyone.

As I live in the UK I am unable to do the run walk event but I will be definitely be giving my sister and all her friends all my moral support for this event which will go towards raising funds to help my mum.
