Doing my best to make a difference with every single step
Auckland
I see all these sad stories and divided opinions on the issue of refugees and it can become so overwhelming.
But when it boils down to it I remember that my own family came to NZ over 35 years ago as refugees. My parents didn't look to escape to take advantage or scrounge from another state, they simply wanted to give my sister and I a better chance at life. So I can see firsthand how the generosity of NZers has changed our lives (who knows if I would even exist to write this had my parents not been welcomed to NZ).
With the current media coverage of the plight of a new generation of refugees I want to do more than simply "like" or "share" a few poignant stories on Facebook. It seem's silly as I write this but the one thing I can do is run and run alot. So with that in mind, I'm pledging to run at least 400kms and participate in three half marathons (Hamilton, Auckland and Queenstown) and use this as a base to raise much needed money for Red Cross NZ who do an amazing job in helping displaced families find a new home in NZ much like my parents did all those years ago.
So really appreciate any money you could donate, whether large or small, it all helps.

I'm involved because I want to help Red Cross help those who need it
Why are there so many images of business people running 12 November 2015
Did a Google image search for something to use for my last update...you know someone crossing the finish line since I'm almost finished this challenge, blah blah..
So I do as everyone does and Google an image and I get a bunch of business people running, which raises some really important questions:
a) who uses these images? and why?
b) can you imagine being one of the models..."okay guys, so imagine you're literally in a race for business success, now game faces on"
c) why are there so many?
d) which one should I use :)
On a serious note, I'm totally going to try and replicate some of these poses as I cross the finish line this weekend
