Fundraising for Camp Quality New Zealand
Waikato
Camp Quality have been our family for more than 10 years. Lennox was diagnosed with and treated for retinoblastoma when she was 3, and went to her first winter camp just after her 5th birthday. Camp became a home away from home and we counted down to each winter and summer camp every year. For Lennox, it was amazing to have safe people outside her family, who would support her to challenge herself in safe ways, and normalise her medical and physical needs.
For me, it was always hard waving Lennox off at the bus, but incredible to know she would be in safe hands for the duration of camp, and would come back full of new experiences and more confidence.
Lennox attended every camp bar one (due to illness) until she aged out at 16. Camp Quality have done so much for us, I decided it was time to give back!
This year, I am going to run 7 of the Kiwi Aramex walk and run series, to raise money for Camp Quality, the charity partner of the race series. As part of the Camp family I get free entry, so will donate the equivalent to my fundraiser.
I would love it if you could support my efforts by chipping in - any amount helps!
Camp Quality is a haven for children who are or have experienced cancer. They changed our lives for the better, and I hope this fundraiser can help to express my gratitude for everything they have done for us.
Waitomo Trail Run 21 April 2026
On Saturday, I took part in the 5km Waitomo Trail Run. This wasn't one of the Kiwi Aramex races, just another one for fun! It was hard work with lots of hills, stairs, mud, cow poop and a couple of fences to deal with, but some amazing scenery and the opportunity to have a photo in the Ruakuri cave before we started, too! I was not sure what time to aim for because I had no idea what the course would be like, but I ended up with 33:30, and was 3rd female finisher, so that was pretty cool!
Only a couple of weeks until the 9km "Walk n Wag" so I need to get back to some longer distance training runs for the next little while.
