Wren's Running for Camp Quality

  • Event #2 - Walk n Wag

The Walk n Wag event in Auckland will definitely be one of my favourites no matter what, because I got to pat lots of dogs!

I was one of the few people running without a dog (mine is annoying to run with), and I missed a turnoff so did a slightly different course than I was supposed to (same distance), so although I did come first in the 9km event, it wasn't really a "win" in that sense!

Still, I was pleased with my efforts, and enjoyed the run along the waterfront. It was a lot hotter than I was expecting it to be, and I regretted not bringing my re-useable cup, as it's a cupless event. Definitely time to invest in a vest.

The next Kiwi Aramex event isn't for a few months, but I've got plenty of other events to keep me busy until then!

  • First 10km event - "We Run the Night"

      6 May 2026

Last weekend I had a busy Saturday with parkrun in the morning, and my first 10km running event in the evening. "We Run the Night" in Mount Maunganui was a fun, after-dark run complete with glow sticks, headlamps and a DJ on a bike!

This was my first 10km event (I've run 10km+ before but only in training) and I was stoked to get a pb of 54:45, well under my max 1-hour goal.

I'm feeling pretty well prepared for next weekend's 'Walk n Wag' 9km event in Auckland. I'm not taking my dog though - she's a terrible running companion!

  • Waitomo Trail Run

      21 April 2026

On Saturday, I took part in the 5km Waitomo Trail Run. This wasn't one of the Kiwi Aramex races, just another one for fun! It was hard work with lots of hills, stairs, mud, cow poop and a couple of fences to deal with, but some amazing scenery and the opportunity to have a photo in the Ruakuri cave before we started, too! I was not sure what time to aim for because I had no idea what the course would be like, but I ended up with 33:30, and was 3rd female finisher, so that was pretty cool!

Only a couple of weeks until the 9km "Walk n Wag" so I need to get back to some longer distance training runs for the next little while.

  • First run done!

      5 April 2026

My first Kiwi Aramex event was on Saturday 28th March. I completed a 7km trail run and managed to set the bar extremely high for myself by coming in first woman, and 3rd overall! (I think the fast runners all picked the longer events, lol).

Thanks for your support so far - spread the word because there's still a long way to go. :)
