Youthline - Changing lives

I am very happy to be chosen as one of the finalists for Miss Auckland 2018.

Miss Auckland 2018's Beauty with a Purpose chosen charity is Youthline. As a Miss Auckland 2018 Finalist, we will be supporting, fundraising and donating to Youthline. Youthline is the first point of contact across New Zealand to access a wide range of youth development and support services.

Youthline's flagship service is their FREE nationwide 24/7 Helpline and Text Counselling Services, 7 days a week, which are staffed by a large team of fully trained volunteers supported by Clinical Staff.

It costs $800,000 a year to run the Helpline which the government only contributes $87,000 which is only around 10% of what they need. Last year they received a total of 298,730 phone calls, text messages, webchats and emails.

Sadly New Zealand has one of the WORST statistics for youth suicide in the developing world. Statistics like this highlight to us the importance of Helpline services Youthline provide to support young people around the country when they need the most.
