FertilityNZ

Fertility New Zealand walks alongside all people facing fertility challenges.

Nationwide

Fertility New Zealand (est. 1990) is a Charity dedicated to informing, supporting, and advocating for people who face fertility challenges at all stages of their journey and beyond. Much of our work is undertaken by a team of around 50 dedicated volunteers.

Fertility NZ provides assistance for people with fertility issues through the following channels:

• Support - A network of regular support gatherings and workshops throughout the country; an 0800 line and email address for enquiries, and forums on our website where members can provide support to one another. We also host the Donor Conception & Surrogacy Network for people considering or creating whānau in these ways.

• Information - www.fertilitynz.org.nz is the hub of our information; informative fact sheet brochures are available for download and through Clinics; a series of information videos; regular publication of The Dandelion newsletter and email updates to Members; virtual and in-person information events. Fertility Week campaign to raise awareness of infertility and fertility-related issues.

• Advocacy - Representing the voice of people affected by infertility on medical, ethical and policy issues.

FNZ is the only organisation in NZ to represent and advocate for the needs of those affected by fertility issues and infertility. For 30 years FNZ has worked cooperatively but independently with providers of reproductive medicine and technology; government organisations and representatives; health authorities and other voluntary organisations.

More about us

Having the choice to create a family is a fundamental part of our humanness – encountering difficulties in having or completing a much-wanted family is unexpected and can be very challenging to deal with. The confusion, frustration and grief encountered with fertility problems are invisible and often not understood by family and friends or even by health professionals, which can leave people feeling very isolated. Intense feelings such as anger, sadness and grief are a natural part of dealing with fertility problems. However these feelings are often minimised and invalidated by others, so support from people who understand is especially helpful.

Fertility NZ was founded in 1990 and is a national organisation with regional branches around New Zealand and is a registered charity. Much of Fertility NZ’s work is carried out by dedicated volunteers.
