To provide unique experiences for Special Needs Kids via our Holiday Program To cover transport and excursion costs for the Holiday Program
Canterbury
We would like to raise funds for Allstars Kids Club so that children with special needs can participate in a suitable holiday program each school holidays. These holiday programs will run excursions and go to special venues so the children can experience unique experiences. If we can raise enough funds we can make sure these activities are fully covered and any transport costs don't fall to already financially stretched families.
All Stars Kids Club runs for 42 days of the year providing a safe, enjoyable and stimulating holiday programme for children who have special needs and/or chronic health issues aged 5–14 in Christchurch. Each day a maximum of 35 children receive one-to-one care from our dedicated team of teenage volunteers, who are overseen and supported by three assistants and two supervisors, all of whom are trained to help the children with personal care, medication, tube-feeding, transportation, mobility and lifting.
Daily events vary for every programme but they typically include swimming, movies, inflatables, gymnastics, farm visit, ten pin bowling, canoeing, disco, crafts, miniature steam trains, go karts, trikes, nature reserves, and the beach. The programme base is a school hall and thanks to the hire of a disability van and a 50 seater bus, staff and children are able to go offsite most days.
All Stars allows children and young people to grow in confidence, make friends, have fun and flourish in a safe and stimulating environment. For some children, the activities enjoyed at All Stars are often first-time experiences and would not be achievable without assistance and support.
