Community based brass bands teach people of all ages and experince to play brass and percussion instruments. With a little home practice it doesn't take long for a new player to be able to perform with a training band. And with a lot of practice many players go on to study music and make music their career.

We have 52 community brass bands with over 1800 members, organise the National Secondary Schools Band and National Youth Band. Our National Band has won the Brass Band section of the Music Festival at the World Music Concourse three times; won the International Band Festival in Canada; the British Open Championship, Manchester and the Edinburgh Festival Brass Band Championship.
