Big Buddy supports boys who don’t have their dad around by recruiting good guys from the community to spend time with them.
Auckland
Big Buddy matches kind-hearted men with boys who do not have a father in their lives, so they can enjoy male friendship, guidance, someone to look up to and maybe even kick a ball round with. Our Big Buddies are thoroughly screened and then matched with a Little Buddy of 7-14 years of age.
Regular feedback from mums and grans shows that having a Big Buddy helps a boy grow confidence, see the world differently, and feel a lot happier! Just by spending a few hours a week together, kicking a ball, building something or even climbing a tree, all these good things happen.
Your support will help identify the boys that are in need, find good-hearted men, screen for safety and reliablity and support a Big and Little Buddy match that will change a young boy's life for good.
We find these boys a male mentor, fostering a long-term relationship, kinda like an uncle. It’s simply a good man turning up into a boy’s life, taking an interest in who he is, modeling positive maleness. The boy’s self-worth will develop; he will do better at school, be less inclined to commit crime. Statistics on mentoring are compelling.

Wellington coordinator Andrew Morrison says making great matches is the best buzz. He recently matched a 10-year-old Little Buddy with a fellow sports fanatic and they haven't slowed for breath. ""It was so cool seeing the LBs reaction when I did the match. He was so stoked. He took the BB into his room and showed him all his sports medals and cups - they were talking away in sports language. His Mum looked bewildered by it! Their first outing was the new BB going to see his LB play cricket - he saw him get a wicket - and the LB was so stoked to have his BB there to acknowledge and praise him. I think it's a keeper!""
Thank you so much Adel and Ron, Love you guys!
Thanks Winnie :)
