CanTeen Auckland is a not for profit organisation supporting young people from the Auckland region living with cancer.
Auckland
Our mission is to support, develop and empower young people aged 13-24, living with cancer through a peer support network, and high quality education. CanTeen believes that young people - through meeting, talking and sharing their experiences - would be better able to cope with the uncertainties of living with cancer.
CanTeen Auckland supports over 400 young people living with cancer throughout the greater Auckland community, and has been doing so since 1986.
CanTeeners regularly get together for seasonal camps, weekends away, workshops, support groups, leadership development and other great social and recreational events. CanTeeners also support each other at home and in hospital.
30 Firefighters Shave Their Heads! 1 November 2010
Saturday 23rd October 2010 was a great day for all at the Papatoetoe Fire Station, where THIRTY men AND women from the Fire Service sacrificed their hair for CanTeen Auckland. What a fantastic morning it was and with thanks to the King of Shave team, the guys (and girls) were lining up to get either a gnumber 1h or the more popular gnumber 0h! There was also a brilliant sunny sky, BBQ, bouncy castle, firetruck demonstration, and not to mention a great crowd of friends, family and supporters.? THANK YOU to everyone who has given so generously so far.?Without government funding, CanTeen Auckland is so very grateful to be supported by such a cool community. And it is with their generosity of spirit that we can continue in our support of young Aucklanders living with cancer. To donate to this fundraiser or pass the link onto those who may be interested in donating, check out?http://www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/southaucklandfirefighters"" www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/southaucklandfirefighters
