Canterbury Caledonian Society

Canterbury Caledonian Society

The Society seeks support to provide education and celebration of Scottish culture in the Canterbury region.

Canterbury

With a membership of almost 500, we are a well supported and active member of the Scottish community in New Zealand, and support all things Scottish, be they part of our Society or otherwise.

Through pipe bands, Highland dancing and Scottish Country dancing we promote and foster the Scottish culture to our youth, and also maintain an extensive collection of Scottish historical items.

More about us

Based in the Garden city of Christchurch, New Zealand.

With a membership of almost 500, we are a well supported and active member of the Scottish community in New Zealand, and support all things Scottish, be they part of our Society or otherwise.

The Society has had a difficult time since the devastating earthquakes of 2010/11, and our member groups have been spread over the entire city. With five years having passed, we are delighted to be in our new facility located at 5 Michelle Road in the western suburb of Wigram. Photographs of the development can be see at www.facebook.com/CanterburyCaledonian

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
