Central Otago LandSAR

Central Otago LandSAR

Our unpaid volunteers provide search and rescue services to the lost, missing and injured in Central Otago.

Otago

Our beautiful Central Otago region is a unique and sometimes harsh landscape. Our mountains, lakes, valleys and rivers are frequented by farmers, fishermen, hunters, trampers, climbers, cyclists and 4WD enthusiasts. No one knows our patch like we do. In conjunction with the NZ police and the Rescue Coordination Centre, our trained volunteers operate in suburban, urban, wilderness and rural areas, and provide incident management services in together with Police. Central Otago LandSAR operations are provided free of charge to the victim and the government.

More about us

Central Otago LandSAR is part of national volunteer organisation LandSAR, which provides search and rescue services to the lost, missing, and injured all over New Zealand, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, via New Zealand Police and the Rescue Coordination Centre.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
