The Christchurch Botanic Gardens Charitable Trust is a registered charity (No. CC51736) dedicated to supporting the development of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. The Trust does this by raising funds for specific projects in the Botanic Gardens. These are projects that have been approved by Christchurch City Council (the Council) but for which the Council does not have sufficient funds.
The Trust is completely independent of the Council, which continues to operate and maintain the Botanic Gardens. However, the Trust and the Council jointly agree on all development fundraising projects to ensure a consistent and shared vision for the Gardens. The Friends of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens provide time and resources to support the operation of the Botanic Gardens, while the Trust’s focus is solely on fundraising.
