At Christchurch Budget Service we understand that approaching a stranger because people can’t afford to feed, house and clothe their children or manage debt and pay all their bills can be embarrassing.
It takes remarkable courage to pick up the phone and call, text or email us. That is why CBS's independent services are private and strictly confidential. Absolutely no personal information is shared with the Government or its Agencies.
CBS Budget advisors ensure that people are informed of and clearly understand all options available to them and are able to accurately weigh up the risks relating to the choices they make. Once they have made an informed decision CBS Budget Advisers are there to help people to prepare a financial plan for the future.

Christchurch Budget Service Incorporated, now in its 50th year,provides private and confidential budget and debt management support and advice for struggling working people including casual workers, independent contractors and self-employed, and their families and superannuitants and students. CBS is Canterbury's only budget service that is genuinely independent of any religious organisation, political party and or Government Ministry or Agency.
Use of funds
Donations will be used to fund free and independent services for low-income working people in casualised jobs, superannuitants and students who are no longer funded by the Ministry of Social Development because they are not beneficaries.
