The Dunedin Curtain Bank provides free thermally lined curtains to those in need.
Otago
The Dunedin Curtain Bank up-cycles unwanted and unused curtains, lines them, and distributes them to those in need in our community. Curtains make a significant difference to the warmth of a home. A third of all heat loss in an uninsulated home occurs through windows. Even double-glazed windows let out more heat than uninsulated walls. Retaining heat in the home, means less money needs to be spent on heating too thereby reducing fuel poverty. Every year our amazing community donates over 1000 curtains, and in the past 9 years Dunedin Curtain Bank has provided over 3500 curtains to those most in need. Many, if not most of these curtains have been taken up, lined or repaired, so that they correctly fit the window/home, and help ensure the best possible insulation.
Here's how your donation can help:
• $10 - will fund the stitching of a family's curtains
• $50 - Line the curtains for a child's bedroom
• $100 - Provide curtains for a child's bedroom
• $388 - Provide curtains for a whole family home
Thanks so much for your support, to help keep Dunedin families homes warm and dry!
