Our mission: a loving home for every dog.
Canterbury
Based in Christchurch, Dogwatch Sanctuary Trust is one of New Zealand’s leading dog rescue, retraining and rehoming organisations. It is a registered charity, established in 1982. Since then, the organisation has rescued thousands of dogs from local pounds and rehomed them into loving forever homes.
Initially, Dogwatch was made up of a network of fosterers; today, the organisation operates its rescue, retraining and rehoming functions from a purpose-built shelter facility situated on five acres of land in Bromley. Dogwatch also has a second-hand variety shop in New Brighton which sells donated goods to raise income for the shelter.
Dogwatch has a board of trustees, ten (mostly part-time) staff and over 100 active volunteers. The organisation receives no government or council funding and relies entirely on the generosity of supporters and its own fundraising activities.
In 2022, Dogwatch marks its 40th year. The organisation remains passionately dedicated to improving lives through rescuing, retraining and rehoming at-risk dogs,
